The Avalon Project
December 9, 2010The Avalon Project is a website sponsored by the Yale Law School containing hundreds of primary source material from history, government, and diplomacy. It is an excellent way for students to supplement class lectures and other reading material with first-hand accounts of important events. Here is the link: http://avalon.law.yale.edu/
The War on Terror and the Vietnam Syndrome
February 2, 2010For my Vietnam War students, I want you to think of the ways the War on Terror has been influenced by the American experience in Vietnam. Do we still struggle with the so-called Vietnam Syndrome? If so, how has it shaped U.S. foreign policy? Are there parallels between the Vietnam War and the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Please comment.
The Vietnam War and Iraq War
March 9, 2007One of the things my students debate is whether the Iraq War is reminiscent of the Vietnam War. Much has been made of the comparison, especially among those who remember the Vietnam War. What do you think?
